Posters and graphics by Alfons Mucha
The National Muzeum in Cracow presents new exhibition of the work of Alfons Mucha, a Czech-born French artist, a project of the just-ending Ukrainian Year in Poland.
The exhibitions features thirty-four posters and graphics by Alfons Mucha, beginning with the his best-known achievement Gismonda. It appears in the company of other play-bills commissioned by Sarah Bernhardt. All of them have the shape of a strongly elongated vertical rectangle, that is the form taken over by the post-Impressionists from Japanese art. Another numerous group consists of commercial that advertise alcoholic drinks, chocolate, railways, or bicycles. Twenty-seven lithographs here presented belong to the Museum of Ethnography and Artistic Crafts in Lviv, the remaining seven works are the property of the National Museum in Cracow.
The exhibition "Graphic works of Alfons Much" will be open till 3rd August.
